Service Description

Myofascial Release is a manual technique that relieves pain, tension and tenderness resulting from the restriction of myofascial tissues. Fascia is the tough membranes that wrap, connect and support your organs. The best example of this type of connective tissue can be seen as the white membrane found on a breast of chicken. This membrane can get wrinkles such as cellophane wrap can get wrinkled. These wrinkles can restrict muscle movement and cause pain and stiffness. Quite often, for instance, it can be the cause of one shoulder being more elevated than the other and possibly rotated forward or backward, a head to tilt, or perhaps one hip to be higher than the other. These are just a few examples of what fascial restrictions can create. Myofascial Release is a slow, broad, gentle, sustained pressure method used to stretch out the fascia and release the "wrinkles" in the fascia to help make the body more symmetrical, relieves pain, relaxes contracted muscles, improves blood, oxygen and lymphatic circulation and stimulates stretch reflex in muscles. This technique can be effective for those who have more chronic or stubborn issues that have not found the desired results from more traditional methods. Please bring a bathing suit (2 piece for woman or a sports bra and sport shorts) to your appointment.
